What is Hikvision SADP Tool?
SADP stands for Search Active Device Protocol. SADP is a user friendly software and installation free online device search tool. SADP software is used for searching the online devices in the same network. It supports viewing the device information, activating the device, editing the network parameters of the device and resetting the device password, etc.
Its commonly used for:
- Activating the Hikvision IP camera
- Modifying the IP camera
- Resetting password
- Finding out what firmware is currently used
- Changing IP addresses

HOW TO USE HIKVISION SADP SOFTWARE?
The Search Active Device Protocol or SADP tool detects Hikvision devices on the local area network and facilitates device activation and basic network settings modification of one or more devices at once. SADP now provides four methods for resetting a forgotten password including the newly added GUID Mode and Security Question Mode. SADP is an excellent tool for activating and troubleshooting Hikvision network devices.
1. Download SADP Tool Software

2. Install SADP Tool Software
After downloading it onto your computer, run and install SADP tool software on your Windows. Double-click the file icon to start the setup process.

3. Setting the Network Camera over the LAN
Before we start using the SADP tool software. Let’s first set up the devices that will be used such as the network camera, PoE Switch and of course the computer.

From your computer connect the other end of the LAN cable to the PoE Switch. If you haven’t made a LAN cable yet, we also have a tutorial to teach you how to make a LAN cable.

Connect the camera to the POE switch. By the way, a PoE switch has the Power over Ethernet functionality built into it. This means you can power devices/cameras using network cables.

You will notice that the camera is already powered on.
Next is, go to your Network Setting to modify the IP Address of your PC. Here we need to modify the properties of your Network so that the camera and your computer communicate so that you can modify the camera using the SADP tool software.
4. Modifying the IP Address
To view and configure the camera via LAN (Local Area Network) you need to connect the camera in the same subnet with your PC. Set the IP address to Static as the same range IP address of your IP camera.
Modifying IP Address: Go to Ethernet Properties
Enter the IP address you picked in our case we choose 192.168.1.99. The default IP address of the camera is 192.168.1.64

Run the SADP software to search the online devices.
ACTIVATION VIA SADP SOFTWARE:
- Check the device status from the device list, and select the inactive device.
- Create and input the new password in the password field, and confirm the password.
- Click ACTIVATE to start activation.
- The device is now ACTIVATED.
